Kathrein Edge Antennen
Hardware

Compact, powerful and innovative - the new generation of KATHREIN Edgeline antennas sets new standards for RFID in logistics and production.

RFID technology has made enormous progress in recent years, particularly in the area of hardware. Today, antennas are more compact, more powerful and more versatile than ever before. One outstanding example is the new Edge Line antennas from KATHREIN Solutions, which set new standards for use in logistics and production - especially in environments with limited space.

But KATHREIN is going one step further: in addition to the innovative antenna generation, the company is also launching the new Gen4 reader generation on the market. This state-of-the-art RFID reader series has already won the “Best Product Award” at LogiMAT 2025, confirming the technological innovation of KATHREIN Solutions in the industry.

Slim design, great effect

At just 6 mm thick (without connector), the new MidRange and WideRange edgeline antennas are among the slimmest RAIN RFID antennas on the market. Despite their compact design, they offer excellent RF parameters and are optimized for maximum efficiency. The EDGE antenna design ensures a precise and symmetrical beam shape, which significantly improves reading accuracy.

The MidRange versions with an aperture angle of 100° are ideal for applications where a medium range is required. The WideRange versions with 55° and 80° beam angles, on the other hand, are optimized for longer distances. This allows companies to choose exactly the antenna solution that suits their individual requirements.

New application possibilities

Thanks to their particularly slim design, these antennas open up new possibilities for SIGMA as a system integrator to implement customer-specific applications. They are ideal for use in systems, as there is often little space left for additional applications in such environments - particularly due to the limited space provided by existing cables and mounting materials. The antennas can also be easily attached directly to the existing mechanics, eliminating the need for additional mounting kits.

A common application is the installation of antennas behind suspended ceilings or partition walls. Previously, larger antennas were unsuitable for this, but with this compact design, these areas can now also be used in modern office spaces without affecting the appearance.

Another common scenario was the installation of antennas above plasterboard ceilings in order to integrate them inconspicuously. However, the distance between the aluminum profiles and the concrete ceiling was often not sufficient to optimally align the antennas. With Edgeline antennas, such challenges are a thing of the past.

Perfect for modern logistics and production environments

In practice, this means that whether for tracking the flow of goods in logistics, parts tracking in production or access control in industrial environments - these antennas offer a flexible solution for a wide range of application scenarios. Thanks to their innovative design, they can also be installed where conventional antennas reach their limits, for example in particularly confined production areas or at assembly stations with limited space.

Sustainability meets technology

RFID technology - now is the right time

The continuous development of RFID hardware is opening up more and more opportunities for companies to optimize their processes. With the new Edgeline generation, KATHREIN Solutions demonstrates how powerful and flexible modern RFID antennas can be. Those who rely on RFID now not only use the latest technological achievements, but also create a future-proof basis for the digitalization of their business processes.
